The Election to the Governing Council of the Indian Association of Structural Engineers for the year 2010-12 was duly held in accordance with provisions of Bye-Laws. Dr P N Shali, Director ECI was the Election Officer. In all, 30 nominations were received for the specified 22 elected seats of the Governing Council. Of these, 21 were duly elected and for the 22nd seat there was a tie between two contestants Mr Narendra Savarkar & Mr Bhavinkumar S Shah.

 

The results of the Governing Council Elections for the term 2010-12 were announced in the 45th meeting of outgoing Governing Council held on 18th December 2010 at 3.30 pm at Lecture Room, CDC, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi 110003.

 

Later at the same venue a meeting of the newly elected Governing Council members was held on 18th December 2010 at 4.30 pm. At this meeting, Shri S Ghosh, Mentor-cum-Managing Director-CES New Delhi, was unanimously elected as the new President of IAStructE for the term 2010-12. During this meeting it was decided that both Mr Narendra Savarkar & Mr Bhavinkumar S Shah who got equal votes will be included in the GC – one as the elected member and the other as a co-opted member. It was also decided that Shri S Ghosh be authorized to select other office bearers of his own choice.

 

After all the agenda items of the AGM were covered, Shri S Ghosh was installed as the President for the term 2010-2012, along with his new team of GC.
