This September, L.D.College of Engineering and CEPT- Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology in conjunction, had conducted Gujarat’s first distinctive and innovative State-Level Quiz Competition event under the aegis of IAStructE- Indian Association of Structural Engineers-Gujarat Chapter exploring young talents.

 

The event was held on 15^th September 2011 at L. D. College of Engineering which was primarily meant for the final year CIVIL ENGINEERING students and PG Structural Engineering students of the entire Gujarat state.

 

This Mega-event involved 21 colleges offering UG degree of Civil Engineering and 10 colleges offering PG degrees in Structural Engineering, covering entire Gujarat state. The quiz content consisted of Structural Designs, Concrete Technology, Structural Analysis, Foundation Engineering and other general related facts.

 

 

Each institute nominated four UG students (i.e. two teams) along with four PG students, if the same institute was running PG course in structural engineering. A small elimination round was conducted at institute level for selection of participants for the main event.

The first round of the main event was an elimination round consisting of 50 MCQs wherein 25 teams of UG and 15 teams of PG students were competed for Fantastic-4Round. Thereafter each UG team was allotted one PG student randomly so there were in all 16 teams, each consisting of 2-UG and 1-PG student.

 

The second round, namely, the fantastic four, was conducted in two rounds wherein 8 teams had participated in each round. Four teams were selected from these two rounds which had participated in final round.

 

The final round of quiz was then conducted, which decided the winners and the runners-up of the event. The prize money for winner team was Rs. 7500 and for the runners-up team was Rs. 4500.

 

Apart from these, certificate of participation was provided to all the participants, also prizes were given to audience members who gave correct answers. The food and beverages was provided to all the participants by organizing committee. The event was entirely sponsored by Infinite Civil Solution Pvt. Ltd. The Quiz was coordinated by Dr. N. K. Arora, L.D. College of Engineering and Prof. Parth Thaker, School of Building Science and Technology, CEPT University.
